A major win for HBCU sports
AspireTV, the network that celebrates and reflects Black culture and urban lifestyle, announced today that the HBCU sports series No Huddle and HBCU 101 will both be returning for second seasons beginning Sunday, Sept. 6, at 12 p.m. ET and 12:30 p.m. ET, respectively.
“AspireTV is thrilled to partner for a second season with HBCU Gameday, producers of HBCU 101 and No Huddle,” said Tina Rodriguez, senior director, programming & acquisitions, AspireTV. “HBCU sports are more important than ever, even as Covid-19 has uprooted the traditional roll-out of the football season. There remains a strong focus at AspireTV on how the programs are adapting and keeping the tradition of HBCU sports and lifestyle alive.”
HBCU Gameday’s flagship football program No Huddle previews black college football action and sets the tone for every game on Saturdays. Due to the effect of Covid-19 on this year’s season, episodes will focus on the state of football coming back and how the conferences, universities, athletes and coaches are moving forward with their sports programs. Wali Pitt serves as executive producer and senior video producer.
HBCU 101 is a television series that highlights Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These highlights are obtained via one-on-one interviews with prominent leaders and HBCU alumni, in addition to interactions with the student body, various student organizations and campus leaders, all to shine a positive light on these institutions. HBCU 101’s mission is to enlighten the masses on HBCUs by highlighting their activities, organizations, persons, and services to uplift and connect communities. HBCU 101 is a joint production between HBCU Gameday and Jahliel Thurman Productions. The executive producers for the show are Tolly Carr, Jahliel Thurman, Frederick Whitaker and Uche Byrd.
