It is always a glorious moment in the dating culture when someone decides to live for their self, refusing to seek validation from another party. In Nerika’s new single, she keeps unwanted energy at bay in the name of self love, while highlighting the feeling of uncertainty that comes with dating. “It’s about my complex relationship with love & romance despite the pressures of hookup/dating culture,” Nerika says. “Leave Me Alone” showcases a a beachy Caribbean Pop style that is slowly beginning to be known as her signature sound.

As a Jamaican native who grew up in suburban New Hampshire, the sound is a product of the two worlds in which she struggled to find identity between. “I fuse island vibes with explosive pop in my mission to be a voice for people who feel they don’t have one” She says, “Specifically kids of immigrants.” Much like her single’s “Untameable” and “Runnin” before it, Nerika blends these worlds like none other.
