NEXT UP out of Harlem

Since the beginning, rap and basketball has always shared a special bond in the inner cities. In Harlem, Tj Porter has shown promise both on the court and on the mic and NYC is taking notice. While some may have known him as the slick PG for hoops powerhouse Cardinal Hayes, his melodic flow and piercing lyrics have made him a must hear musician.Tracks like “Eat” and “Save me” helped solidify Porter’s rep as the self proclaimed “Voice of the trenches” and Def Jam has taken notice, as they’ve recently signed him to a deal. With the paperwork out the way, Porter is even more focused, as evidenced by the recently released video “Trenches”. In this visual, he literally kicks the door down and puts everyone from his haters, to the females who used to front, on notice. With Def Jam backing him and collaborations with giants like Nike already in the books, there’s no more fronting on the Harlemite now. And even if he chooses rap over hoops, Tj Porter is gon ball forever.
