Leeanna Banana: For the love

The rebellious Californian hopes to prove the doubters wrong

Leeanna Banana has heard it all before. “Alot of people I tell that I want to be a model as a career don’t understand it,” She says. “Or they suggest I do something more sustainable.” The “Get a real job” critics who have given so many dreamers second thoughts, do not effect Leeanna in the slightest though. After all, she isn’t pursuing the career for money or clout, but rather a passion for the art itself. “Even if I couldn’t make a living from modeling, I’d still partake in it because I have great passion in it,” Says Leeanna. Although she has the right mindset, ideally she would like to make a living from modeling, and she has the look, style and aura to do so.

“Even if I couldn’t make a living from modeling, I’d still partake in it because I have great passion in it”

Leeanna’s inspiration to pursue her craft came in the form of an established model, with a familiar look to her own. “A lot of people told me at one point that I looked like Indyamarie, and I checked her out and she actually inspired me,” She says. While her look may be similar, Leeanna’s style is what truly sets her apart from her peers. From distressed denims to vintage shirts and overalls, her style evokes nostalgia from the 90’s. She has perfected this style through hours upon hours of thrifting for the perfect pieces, a process in which she wishes was easier and more accessible for the public. “I hope to one day have my own 90’s based clothing line,” She states. “Alot of brands try to imitate that kind of style but the materials are never even nearly the same as the original….I want to make it super accessible.”

“My biggest goal is to be seen on a billboard somewhere by someone who completely bashed this dream of mine.”

Leeanna Banana’s thrifting exploits, along with her other escapades can be seen at “l e e a n n a”, her YouTube channel. “I enjoy making YouTube videos alot,” She says. “What got me started was my hair related videos….I now do a lot of fashion videos since that is something I am very passionate about.” As far as modeling, Leeanna is well on her way, as evidenced by her work with the popular brand “Unif”, and her promising personal shoots. Her wish list of brands to work with include Puma and Urban Outfitters, among others. With the drive that she’s exhibited at such a young age, there’s no reason why she shouldn’t be able to achieve her wildest dreams. “My biggest goal is to be seen on a billboard somewhere by someone who completely bashed this dream of mine,” she says. Clearly, the sound of naysayers telling Leeanna to opt for a “Sustainable” career, still echoes in her mind. Despite whatever path she chooses though, modeling will always be a part of Leeanna Banana’s world.
